Romas Ya.D. - Still life with a samovar, flowers and apples.. Year:  1963 Technique:  Oil on cardboard. Size:  70,5x52,3. Romas Yakov Dorofeevich (1902, near Grodno - 1969, Astrakhan). The adopted son of revolutionary Inessa Armand. He studied in Moscow, at the Prechistensky Practical Institute (1922 - 1924) with N.P. Krymov, in VKHUTEMAS/VKHUTEIN (1924-1930) with K.N. Istomina, S.V. Gerasimova, P.P. Konchalovsky. From 1924 to 1937 he worked as a theater artist and designed holidays in Moscow. Later he worked primarily as a landscape painter, specializing in river and sea views. Author of the design of the Krasnoselskaya station of the Moscow metro. Chief artist of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition (1950-1954). Participant of exhibitions since 1933. He taught at the Art School in Memory of 1905 (1932-1936), at the Moscow Art Institute named after. Surikov (1948 – 1950). Winner of the Stalin Prize (1948). Full member of the USSR Academy of Arts. The artist's personal exhibitions were held in Moscow (1945, 1952, 1961, 1962, 1967), Leningrad (1962) and other cities. Paintings by Romas Y.D. are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Dresden Art Gallery, the Astrakhan Art Gallery named after B.M. Kustodiev, in many regional museums of Russia.
