Labas Alexander Arkadievich (1900, Smolensk - 1983, Moscow). Russian artist, representative of expressionism, one of the most original masters of the OSTovsky circle. He studied at the Stroganov School of Art and Industry with F.F. Fedorovsky (1912–1917). I also visited the studio of I.I. Mashkov (1916) and Free Art Workshops (1917), where he studied with P.P. Konchalovsky. Studied at VKHUTEMAS (1921–1924). He was one of the founders of the Society of Easel Painters (1925). Works by A.A. Labasa was exhibited at an exhibition of Soviet fine art in New York. In the 1920s - 1930s. experimented with non-objective art and constructivism. Subsequently, understanding the landscape conquered by man, transformed by his labor, his energy - this is the content of Labas’s work. The artist’s works are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and many regional museums.
