Baltermants D.N. - Attack. 1941.. Year:  1940s. Technique:   Gelatin silver print. Size:  22x26. Descripton:  Signed on the back. Baltermants Dmitry Nikolaevich (1912, Warsaw - 1990). In 1939 he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University. He taught mathematics at the Higher Military Academy, receiving the rank of captain. Baltermants was enrolled in the staff of Izvestia and became a professional photographer. Filmed on different fronts. Was wounded twice. He ended the war in Berlin in 1945. Many of Baltermants' photographs, like the work of all front-line photojournalists of those years, were subject to strict censorship, and most of them were published only in the 1960s. Since 1954, Baltermants has been an employee of the weekly illustrated magazine Ogonyok. Personal exhibitions in London (1964), New York (1965), Paris (First International Photography Month, 1990), etc.
