Veshin Ya.F. - Defense of the Shipka pass.. Technique:  Print. Size:  27х63. Yaroslav Frantishek Veshin (1860-1915) Bulgarian painter. One of the creators of Bulgarian battle and landscape paintings. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1876-1880) and Munich (1880-1883) with Karl Piloti, Jozef Brandt, Otto Seitz, specializing in historical and genre painting. He taught at the State Drawing College in Sofia (1897-1903). One of the founders of modern Bulgarian art of the 19th—20th centuries. He is the author of realistic battle, genre and genre-landscape compositions. Most of the paintings are by me.The painting is kept in the National Art Gallery in Sofia. A fragment of the painting by Ya.Veshina ”Plowman” is depicted on the Bulgarian 500 leva banknote of 1925, 250 leva of 1943 issue.
