Krylov Porfiry Nikitich (1902, Tula province - 1990, Moscow). (KUKRYNIKSY) Full member of the USSR Academy of Arts. People's Artist of the USSR. Graduated from VKHUTEIN in 1927, studied under A.A. Osmerkina, A.V. Shevchenko, A.P. Konchalovsky. Together with artists M.V. Kupriyanov and N.A. Sokolov (Kukryniksy) worked in political and everyday satire, political posters, book illustrations and thematic compositions. He worked independently as a painter in the field of portraits, landscapes and still lifes. Laureate of the Lenin Prize, six USSR State Prizes and the State Prize of the RSFSR named after. I.E. Repina. From 1947 to 1949 - member of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Arts. The artist’s paintings are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and the Art Museum. P.N. Krylov in Tula. The artist's self-portrait has been in the Uffizi Gallery (Florence) since 1983.
