Ossovsky P.P. - Altai girl.. Year:  1957. Technique:  Oil on canvas on cardboard. Size:  39,5х49,5 Ossovsky Petr Pavlovich (born 1925, Malaya Viska, Kirovograd region of Ukraine - 2015). Soviet and Russian artist and painter. Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts (since 1995; corresponding member since 1988). People's Artist of the USSR (1989). Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1985). In 1950 he graduated from Moscow State Art Institute. V.I. Surikov, where he studied with S.V. Gerasimova, N.Kh. Maksimova, D.K. Mochalsky, S.N. Kostina, I.I. Chekmazova, V.V. Favorskaya. Participant of exhibitions since 1954. Exhibited together with D. Zhilinsky, V. Ivanov, G. Korzhev. In 1961 he made a creative trip to Cuba and Mexico. In 1963 he was awarded the Silver Medal of the USSR Academy of Arts for his series of works “Cuba”. The artist’s personal exhibitions were held in Moscow (1964, 1978, 1983, 1985), Poland (1965), Italy (1966), Czech Republic (1975), Slovakia (1975), Finland (1984), Ukraine (1986), Germany (1987), Spain (1992). In 1996, a personal exhibition of paintings and drawings by P.P. Ossovsky took place at the Russian Academy of Arts. The artist’s works are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Pskov Art Gallery, in many regional museums, as well as in private collections in Russia and abroad.
