Plastov A.A. - Деревенский велосипедист.. Descripton:  Signed lower left. The work comes from the artist's family collection. Plastov Arkady Aleksandrovich (1893, Prislonikha near Simbirsk - 1972, ibid.). He studied at the Stroganov Central Art and Industrial School (1912 - 1914), at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in the sculpture department (1914-1917) with S.M. Volnukhina. At the same time, he studied painting with A.E. Arkhipova, A.S. Stepanova, A.M. Vasnetsova. He worked mainly in Prislonikhe (near Simbirsk). Laureate of the Stalin Prize (1946), laureate of the Lenin Prize (1966). Full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1947). People's Artist of the USSR (1962). Personal exhibitions of A.A. Plastova took place in Moscow (1976, 1983, 1993, 2003) and in Sofia (1964). A staunch supporter of realism. The main themes of his work are rural landscapes, portraits of contemporaries, scenes from peasant life. He also worked in the field of illustration, easel drawing and in the animal genre. Exhibited at exhibitions of the Union of Artists of the USSR. The artist’s works are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Ulyanovsk Regional Art Museum, the Samara Regional Art Museum and other large museums of the former USSR.
