Corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Arts. People's Artist of the RSFSR. Honored Artist of the BSSR. Studied at the Kazan Art School with N.I. Feshin (1910-1918), at the Higher Art School at the Academy of Arts in Petrograd (1914-1918) in the workshop of V.E. Makovsky. Member of the AHRR-AKhR since 1923. Rector of the Moscow State Art Institute named after. V.I. Surikov (1948-1962). He taught at VGIK (1939-1941). Organizer and director of the Mstera Art and Industrial School and art school-commune (1918-1922). Portrait painter, author of historical, revolutionary and genre paintings. Works by F.A. Modorov are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and in many regional museums.
