Veidemanis Egil Karlovich (1924, Moscow - 2004, Moscow). Honored Artist of Russia. Winner of the Moscow City Hall Prize in 2003 for a series of works about Moscow. Diploma-recipient of the Russian Academy of Arts in 2003. Son of the main artist of the Latvian theater “Skatuve” K.Ya. Veidemanis. After demobilization from the army, he studied at the Moscow Art School in Memory of 1905 (1944) with V.N. Baksheeva, N.B. Terpsikhorov, in the Art Studio of Veterans of the Great Patriotic War by G.A. Sretensky, visited the workshop of V.F. Shtranikha. Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Latvian State University. Traveled a lot, traveled to the Far East, the North, the Baltic States and Central Asia. He painted the interiors of ancient Russian estates: Kuskovo, Ostankino. Wrote a series of works about Moscow during the war years. The artist’s personal exhibitions were held in 1985, 2002 and 2005 (posthumously). in Moscow, in 1987 in Riga and Cesis (Latvia). Constantly exhibited at All-Union art exhibitions. The artist’s works are in the Museum of History and Reconstruction of Moscow, in the museums of Kaluga, Ryazan, Riga and Cesis (Latvia). Most of the artist’s works were acquired by the USSR Ministry of Culture.
