Khamdamov Rustam Usmanovich (1944, Tashkent). In 1969 he graduated from the directing department of VGIK, studied in the workshop of G.N. Chukhraya. In the early 1990s, at the invitation of the mayor's office of the capital of France, he lived and worked in Paris for two years, where he was recognized as the best artist in the world 1991–1996. He is the author of a number of film works that have become events not only in domestic but also in world cinema (“My Heart is in the Mountains”, “Unexpected Joys”). In 1991, the film “Anna Karamazoff” received high critical acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival. In 1997, he was awarded the most prestigious national independent award “Triumph” as an artist, screenwriter and film director. In 2004 - the “Cultural Heritage of the Nation” award. For the first time in the history of Russian culture (in 2003), the works of R.U. Khamdamov ended up in the modern Hermitage collection during the artist’s lifetime. He created sketches of jewelry for high fashion houses in Milan, Paris, New York, and designed jewelry for the American company “Russian World Gallery”. The artist’s personal exhibitions were held in Rostov (2001), Moscow (2001, 2004), London (2001), St. Petersburg (2004), Odessa (2004), Vladikavkaz (2004). Works by R.U. Khamdamov’s works are in the State Hermitage, in galleries in Paris, London, and many private collections in Russia and abroad.
