Viktor Karlovich Stamp (1863-1921) Russian painter, portraitist, master of salon academicism, author of landscapes, costumed portrait compositions and images of naked women and girls. He did not have a formal title of court or academic artist, but was a recognized master of his time, exhibited works at leading exhibitions and was a member of a number of art societies. He received his education in several educational institutions: from 1879 to 1881, he studied at the Moscow two-grade real school at St. Michael's Lutheran Church.; From 1881 to 1883 he attended the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg.‑From 1884 to 1885, he studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture with Yevgraf Semenovich Sorokin and Vladimir Egorovich Makovsky; from 1885 to 1887, he studied at the Julian Academy in Paris with Adolphe William Bouguereau and Tony Robert-Fleury, where he received an award for drawing. Since 1887, he actively participated in art exhibitions: he exhibited works at the exhibitions of the Paris Salon (1887, 1888), the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions (including in 1891), the Arkhip Ivanovich Kuindzhi Society of Artists (1903-1904), the Moscow Society of Art Lovers (intermittently, from 1889 to 1911; since 1895 year — member of the society), St. Petersburg‑The St. Petersburg Society of Artists and other exhibition events. In 1913-1914 he held a solo exhibition in St. Petersburg.‑St. Petersburg. Stember's works are kept in leading museum collections: the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the State Hermitage Museum, and the Pushkin State Museum. The artist's works are also present in private collections.
