A representative of the art of international academicism in the second half of the 19th century. He is the author of numerous portraits of Polish nobility, genre scenes and historical paintings. His works on literary subjects are known, in particular, based on the novel by A. Dumas ”The Three Musketeers”. Since 1863 he lived and worked in Paris. In 1865-1883 he participated in exhibitions of the Paris Salon.
