Pimenov Yuri Ivanovich (1903, Moscow - 1977, Moscow). Full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1962). People's Artist of the USSR (1962). Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1957). Studied at VKHUTEMAS with S.V. Malyutina, V.D. Falileeva, M.F. Shemyakina, V.A. Favorsky. One of the organizers of the society of artists ”OST” (1925). Laureate of the Lenin Prize in 1967 for the series of paintings “New Quarters”, laureate of State Prizes in 1947 and 1950. for theatrical scenery. Received a gold medal for the panel “Stakhanov Movement” in the Soviet pavilion at the International Exhibition in Paris in 1937. In the late 30s and early 40s. created a series of illustrations for books by S.Ya. Marshak, V.V. Mayakovsky, S. Mikhalkov. In 1958 he traveled to Italy, France, and Greece. In 1965, a documentary film “Poetry of the Ordinary (artist Yu. Pimenov)” was made about him. Works by Yu.I.
