Vedernikov Alexander Semenovich (1898, Gorodets, Nizhny Novgorod province - 1975, Leningrad). Soviet graphic artist, painter and teacher, People's Artist of the RSFSR, full member of the USSR Academy of Arts, member of the Leningrad Union of Artists. He studied at the Nizhny Novgorod Art College under A. V. Kuprin and A. V. Fonvizin (1921-1923), then at the painting department of the Leningrad Art Institute under O. I. Braz and A. E. Karev. In 1954, he defended his diploma at the Graphic Faculty of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I. E. Repin and received the title of graphic artist. He participated in exhibitions since 1928, including exhibitions of the Circle of Artists Society in Leningrad (1928, 1929) and in London (1929), the First Exhibition of Leningrad Artists in Leningrad (1935), exhibitions in Baku (1936) and the Autumn Exhibition of Leningrad Artists (1936). In subsequent years, he exhibited at exhibitions in Leningrad — in 1960, 1961, at the Leningrad regional exhibition (1964), the Autumn Exhibition (1971), as well as at the Fine Art of Leningrad exhibition in Moscow (1976). Vedernikov's works are kept in the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Urban Sculpture, the art museums of Petrozavodsk, Pskov, Cheboksary, as well as in museums and private collections in Russia, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, France and other countries.
