Plastov Arkady Aleksandrovich (1893, Prislonikha near Simbirsk - 1972, ibid.). People's Artist of the USSR (1962), full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1947), winner of the Lenin Prize (1966) and the Stalin Prize of the first degree (1946). He studied at the Stroganov Central School of Art and Industry (1912-1914), then at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1914-1917), and also studied in the studio of I. I. Mashkov (1917). Participated in regional exhibitions in Ulyanovsk, republican exhibitions of artists of the RSFSR, All‑Union exhibitions in Moscow (including the All‑Union Art Exhibition of 1941), international exhibitions in Venice (1956), Brussels (1958), New York, Paris and other cities; in the 1950s and 1960s he held solo exhibitions in Moscow and Leningrad. His works are represented in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Ulyanovsk Regional Art Museum, regional art museums of Russia (Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov, etc.), as well as in foreign museums and private collections.
