Gritsai Alexey Mikhailovich (1914, St. Petersburg - 1998, Moscow) Soviet artist, painter, teacher. Academician of the USSR Academy of Arts (1964). People's Artist of the USSR (1974). Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1978) and two Stalin Prizes of the third degree (1951, 1952). In 1932 - 1939 he studied at the I.E. Repin LIZHSA with S.L. Abugova, I.I. Brodsky and V.N. Yakovleva. He taught at the Moscow Art School in Memory of 1905 (in 1948 - 1952) and at the Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov (in 1964 - 1998). Since 1964 he led his personal workshop. Since 1966 - professor. The artist's works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, in the collections of many Russian museums, as well as in private collections in Russia and abroad.
