Bogorodsky Fedor Semenovich (1895, Nizhny Novgorod - 1959, Moscow). Soviet painter. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1946). Laureate of the Stalin Prize, second degree (1946). Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1947), Chairman of the Board of the Moscow Union of Artists (1955 – 1958). In 1922 he moved to Moscow and entered VKHUTEMAS in the workshop of Abram Arkhipov (1922−1924). He defended his diploma in 1927 at Vkhutein, receiving the right to a pensioner's trip abroad. Participant of exhibitions since 1916. Member of the artistic associations ”Being” (1922), ”Fire-Color” (1925). Member of the AHRR (Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia). From 1928 to 1930 he lived in Italy and Germany (retirement trip), including with M. Gorky in Sorrento. In 1931 - 1937 often visited the Black Sea coast. Professor (since 1939), head of the department of painting and drawing at VGIK (1938 - 1959). The author's works are presented in the collection of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the State Museum of the Revolution and the Central Museum of the Armed Forces in Moscow, in many regional museums, as well as in private collections in Russia and abroad.
