Birshtein M.A. - Fishermen.. Technique:  Oil on canvas. Size:  50х125,5. Birshtein Max Avadevich (1914, Kyiv - 2000, Tarusa). Gold Medal winner of the Russian Academy of Arts (1999), member of the Moscow Union of Artists (since 1943). He studied at the painting faculty of the Moscow State Art Institute named after V. I. Surikov (he entered in 1935, graduated in 1942, workshop of R. R. Falk). Participated in exhibitions since 1939, including the All-Union exhibition of works by young artists dedicated to the twentieth anniversary of the Komsomol (Moscow, 1939), a group exhibition in Moscow (1957), exhibitions ”30 years of the Moscow Art Museum” (1962), ”Dedicated to the Defenders of Moscow” (1966), ”Artists of Moscow 50 anniversary of October” (1967), an exhibition of Soviet art abroad (1968, European countries and Africa), a solo exhibition in Berlin (1982), a posthumous exhibition ”Paintings and Life” at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (2001) and the exhibition ”Max 100. The Cat of History” at the State Central Museum of Modern History of Russia (2014). His works are represented in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the State Literary Museum, the State Museum of Oriental Art, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Saratov Art Gallery, galleries and museums of the former USSR, as well as in private collections in England, Germany, Holland, Spain, Poland, Romania, the USA, France, Switzerland, Japan and other countries.
