Yakovlev Vladimir Igorevich (1934, Nizhny Novgorod region – 1998, Moscow). The artist is a nonconformist. He did not receive a professional education, as a painter he was formed independently, largely under the influence of impressions from the Western avant-garde art, samples of which were demonstrated in Moscow during the VI World Festival of Youth and Students. His first solo exhibition was a one-day exhibition organized (jointly with E.A. Steinberg) at the F.M. Museum.Dostoevsky in 1963, and the exhibition ”Russian Avant-garde in today's Moscow” at the Gmurzhinsk Gallery (Cologne; 1970) was the first foreign exhibition. Since 1968, Yakovlev's works have been regularly exhibited all over the world. In 1995, he had a solo exhibition at the State Tretyakov Gallery.
