Very Large Antique 18th Century Mule Chest *COLLECTION ONLY* - A robust and evocative 18th-century oak mule chest, rich in both age and presence. This generously proportioned chest measures approximately 131cm wide, 70cm deep and 60cm high, offering considerable storage within its deep interior and retaining its original candle box compartment to one side. The three-panel front is framed with simple moulded rails, its surface worn smooth with the passage of time. The oak has darkened beautifully over centuries, exhibiting a mottled patina with hints of tiger grain on the front panels. The top opens on original iron strap hinges and sits flush despite a subtle warp consistent with age and use. The original escutcheon remains in situ, though long devoid of its lock - lending an authentic air of rusticity to the piece.
