Antique English 19th Century Sarcophagus Form Tea Caddy - An antique English 19th century sarcophagus-form tea caddy constructed of highly figured dark wood veneer, likely mahogany or rosewood. The box features a stepped structure with a prominent cylindrical or domed element atop the hinged lid. It rests on four turned bun feet. The front face includes a central lozenge-shaped escutcheon plate, appearing to be crafted from bone or ivory. The hinged lid opens to reveal an interior lined with red felt or velvet, enclosing two separate compartments. Each compartment is covered by a liftable wooden lid fitted with a small turned pull knob.
