Bidspirit auction | A Late Victorian or Edwardian
A Late Victorian or Edwardian Mahogany Dressing Chest with Swivel Mirror - This is a single antique dressing chest or vanity, constructed of reddish-brown wood, likely mahogany or stained hardwood, characteristic of the late Victorian or Edwardian period (c. late 19th/early 20th century). The main chest section features three drawers, configured as two shallow drawers above one deep, full-width drawer. The chest stands on four tapered legs. A superstructure is mounted atop the main chest, supporting a large, elliptical swivel mirror mounted between two standards. This superstructure incorporates a central shelf flanked by two small pedestals, each housing a small utility drawer, resulting in a total of five drawers. The mirror standards are topped with small, urn-form metal finials. All visible drawers are fitted with decorative brass bail pulls set over stylized shell or fan-shaped escutcheons.
