French Louis XVI Style Painted and Giltwood Canapé en Corbeille - A Louis XVI Style settee, or canapé en corbeille, featuring a curved, oval-backed wood structure supported by four tapering, fluted legs. The exposed wood frame is finished in a pale cream or ivory paint, contrasted by carved foliate motifs at the crest rail and arms detailed with a gilded or brass-toned finish. The seat, back, and armrests are upholstered in a textured, crushed velvet or velour fabric in a pale beige/taupe hue. The backrest and arm panels are deeply button-tufted (capitonné), and the edges of the upholstery are delineated by continuous rows of silver-toned metal nail heads.
