Early 19th Century English Mahogany Tea Caddy with Two Inner Containers - The lot comprises: one outer hinged tea caddy box and two removable inner lidded caddies. The box is constructed from dark hardwood, identified through market consensus as English mahogany, featuring lighter wood stringing or banding along the edges and internal partitions. The style suggests a late Georgian or early Victorian period, consistent with early 19th-century production. The exterior features an ornate brass bail handle mounted on the top and a diamond-shaped escutcheon on the front. When opened, the interior is divided into three sections: two square recesses designed to hold the removable caddies, flanking a central circular recess. The interior of the lid and the central partitions are lined with worn green velvet or baize. The two inner caddies have domed lids and are constructed to match the outer box. The central blending bowl is absent.
