A Collection of 19th Century Mahogany Lap Desk and Associated Boxes - Restoration - A collection of antique or vintage wooden boxes, primarily constructed from dark wood, likely mahogany or stained hardwood, consistent with 19th-century styles identified in market research. The collection is centered around a large folding writing slope or lap desk, presented open, revealing internal compartments and brass hardware. The interior writing surface is lined with heavily degraded purple velvet. Accompanying the lap desk are four smaller boxes. These include two probable tea caddies, one featuring a stepped lid and the other a pyramidal lid. The remaining two items are small caskets, one of which features burr wood veneer on the lid and front, and another small casket which is visible open, revealing an interior lined with pleated red and cream silk or satin fabric.
