Victorian Revival Carved Walnut Mirror-Back Sideboard or Buffet - A substantial antique mirror-back sideboard or buffet executed in the Continental Victorian Revival style, constructed primarily of walnut or a similar light-toned hardwood. The lower section features a heavily carved facade with four cabinet doors and six drawers (two large central drawers flanked by four smaller drawers), all fitted with brass or bronze drop-pull hardware. The upper section consists of a large rectangular mirror set beneath a deep, carved cornice and flanked by two turned and fluted baluster columns. The carving throughout the piece is deep, featuring floral and foliate motifs on the drawer fronts and cabinet panels. The central cabinet compartment contains a remnant of a fitted metal or tin liner, suggesting its original use as a cellaret or specialized storage.
