French Louis XV Style Carved Extension Dining Table, Attr. to Francois Linke - A magnificent French Louis XV style carved mahogany extension dining table, richly decorated with gilt-accented floral garlands and rocaille ornament. The shaped apron features asymmetrical scrollwork and foliate sprays, highlighted with hand-applied gilt accents, while each cabriole leg is adorned with acanthus leaves and bellflower drops, terminating in scrolled feet. The table retains its original oval form with one fitted extension leaf, allowing the table to expand for grand dining occasions. The quality of carving, refined proportions, and gilt embellishments are characteristic of the Parisian ébénistes of the late 19th century, notably François Linke and his contemporaries, who elevated Louis XV revival furniture to an art form. 30 in.
