Brooks Cabinet & Upholstery Warehouse, 454 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, N.Y.” The piece features an arched crest with pierced scrollwork and turned finials, centered by a carved shell. The upper section displays mirrored back panels flanked by slender turned supports and open shelves with fret-carved brackets. The serpentine lower base is richly carved with floral and shell motifs, supported by cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet.This example is of exceptional scale and craftsmanship, with elaborate detailing and commanding presence, fully characteristic of the best New York cabinetmakers of the mid-19th century.
