Tiffany & Co. Rosewood Chippendale Revival Musical Table Clock, Elliot Clock Co., London - Magnificent 19th-century Chinese Chippendale-style bracket or library clock, retailed by Tiffany & Co., New York, featuring a carved rosewood architectural case surmounted by a pagoda-form top with acorn finials and rich foliate detail. The case rests on carved paw feet and displays fine pierced fretwork to the side panels backed with red silk.The elaborate gilt-brass dial features a silvered chapter ring with applied gilt Roman numerals, subsidiary dials for chime/silent and tune selection, and a finely engraved gilt center signed “Tiffany & Co., New York.” The high-grade triple chain fusee movement, with slow snail damascene pattern to both the front and back plates, is attributed to the Elliott Clock Company of London. This attribution is based on characteristic Elliott features—plate configuration, damascene finishing, and dial layout—though the backplate is unmarked, as occasionally found on Tiffany-retail examples.The movement powers an eight-bell and five-gong musical chiming system, offering both Westminster and Whittington chime selections, with a rich and resonant tone quality. The pendulum and components bear the same damascene finish, and the movement retains original brass fittings and mounting hardware.
