19th century Seth Thomas Shelf Clock with Reverse Glass Tablet - A 19th century Seth Thomas shelf clock, c. 1870s–1880s, housed in a rectangular wooden case with molded cornice and stepped base. The painted dial with Roman numerals shows expected wear and bears the Seth Thomas name, with original brass hands and winding arbor. Below the dial, the door features a reverse-painted glass tablet with a decorative bird and foliate design, framed in gilt. The case retains its warm original finish, with brass bezel and round glass pendulum window at the lower section. A classic example of Seth Thomas’ widely collected mantel and shelf clocks, representing one of America’s most important 19th century clockmakers. 15 in. H, 9 1/2 in. W, 4 in. D
