Renaissance Revival Carved Sewing Table with Bird’s-Eye Maple Interior, c. 1870s - Nicely carved American Renaissance Revival sewing table, circa 1870s, with hinged rectangular lid featuring relief-carved crossed instruments, floral swags, and a central classical shield. The lid opens to reveal a striking bird’s-eye maple interior fitted with six lidded compartments, small ebony knobs, and a central divided section likely for thread and notions. Constructed in fine hardwoods, likely walnut and mahogany, with turned baluster legs, carved moldings, and a shaped lower sewing bag supported on a square stretcher with turned spindles.
