Exceptional 19th Century English Mahogany Secretary Bookcase. C. 1840-50s - Exceptional 19th Century English Mahogany Secretary Bookcase. C. 1840-50s. A fine English secretary bookcase crafted in rich flame mahogany. The upper section features twin doors with original brass grillwork, opening to adjustable shelves. The central drop-front secretary reveals a fitted interior with an array of pigeonholes and small drawers, all retaining original brass pulls. The lower case is comprised of twin pedestal bases, each with four graduated drawers adorned with lion’s head brass pulls, flanking a central cabinet. Carved acanthus capitals, bold cornices, and fine veneer grain throughout showcase masterful craftsmanship. Original finish with expected age wear. 89 H, 84 W, 20 D.
