The piece is carved from dense hardwood with a dark, worn patina showing areas of natural age and ritual use. The deeply furrowed brow, elongated facial planes, and finely rendered beard suggest Luba or Songye influence from the Democratic Republic of the Congo region. The figure retains its original cloth wrap around the waist and displays traditional aesthetic restraint emphasizing introspection and dignity.
