Carved Wooden Head of a Bodhisattva, China, Late Ming to Early Qing Dynasty (circa 1600–1750) - Large carved wooden head depicting a serene bodhisattva, modeled with downcast eyes, full lips, and a calm expression beneath an elaborate foliate crown. Retains traces of original red pigment and gilding over a naturally aged surface. The hair is carved in rhythmic wave patterns beneath a tiered crown of flame-like scrolls, characteristic of late Ming and early Qing temple sculpture from Northern China. Likely once part of a larger devotional figure. Approx. 19 in. H, 10 in. W, 10 in. D Condition: Heavy surface wear and pigment loss consistent with significant age; scattered losses and old chips to crown and base; stable overall with an evocative aged patina.
