African Carved Wooden Mask with Female Figure, Baule or Guro Peoples, Ivory Coast, Mid-20th Century - Carved from a single piece of hardwood, this striking mask features an oval face with raised central ridge, pierced eyes, and bold geometric incisions, surmounted by a finely stylized standing female figure. The form and surface treatment are characteristic of the Baule and Guro peoples of Côte d’Ivoire, whose masks often combine human and spiritual motifs symbolizing fertility, wisdom, and ancestral reverence. The mask retains traces of kaolin and dark patina from ceremonial use and age. Old collector’s label inscribed “Moussi Tribe, Ivory Coast.” Approx. 27 in. H, 9 in. W, 8 in. D Condition: Minor age cracks and surface wear; patina consistent with mid-20th-century ceremonial use; stable and well-preserved overall.
