Himba Headdress Mask, Namibia, Early–Mid 20th Century - An impressive Himba headdress or ritual mask from Namibia, carved from wood and mounted with layers of natural fibers and braided plant material. The stylized face is defined by a long ridge nose and pointed crest, bordered by serrated detailing. The fiber covering—dyed in rich earthen tones—drapes downward in dense strands interwoven with twisted cords, terminating in a fringe of black vegetal fibers. Mounted on a custom stand. Approx. 35 in. H, 18 in. dia. Condition: Areas of age-related wear and loss to fiber elements, minor losses to edge of crest; retains strong presence and excellent original surface.
