Dogon House Post or Ladder, Mali, Early 20th Century - An authentic Dogon architectural house post or ladder, hand-carved from a single tree trunk with a naturally forked base. Posts of this type supported granary or dwelling roofs in traditional Dogon architecture, or used for various climbing, symbolizing strength and ancestral connection. The piece shows smooth weathering from age and use, with traces of dark patina and erosion from exposure. Approx. 48 in. H, 15 in. W (at base). Condition: Wear, age cracks, and minor losses consistent with use and outdoor exposure; stable and displays well as a sculptural architectural relic.
