Large African Carved Wooden Seated Figure, Dogon Peoples, Mali, Mid-20th Century - Impressive hand-carved hardwood sculpture depicting a seated male figure with elongated facial features, narrow almond-shaped eyes, and a tall crested coiffure. The figure holds a vertical vessel or staff form, a motif often associated with offerings or libations in Dogon ancestral traditions. The sculptural style, with strong linear composition, geometric reduction of the body, and rhythmic incised detailing, is characteristic of mid-20th-century Dogon artistry from Mali’s Bandiagara region.
