Chinese Carved Figure of a Reclining “Doctor’s Lady”, Mid-20th Century - Finely carved figure of a reclining woman, traditionally referred to as a “Doctor’s Lady, ” resting on one arm with delicate facial features, incised hair, and smooth polished surface. Such models originated in the Qing dynasty as medical teaching and examination aids, allowing female patients to indicate areas of discomfort indirectly. This example, likely mid-20th century, is carved and displayed on a fitted hardwood base. Approx. 8½ in. L (overall with base). Condition: Very good condition with minor age toning and natural material variations.
