Brazilian Folk Carved Wooden Plaque, Signed “Reis,?? Olinda, Pernambuco, mid-20th century - Carved hardwood wall plaque featuring a stylized mask-like face with rounded eyes and symmetrical abstract motifs, the upper edge carved “REIS” and the reverse inscribed “RIBEIRA Olinda.” Retains its original metal mounting plate and traces of dark brown patina. Likely created in the Pernambuco region’s folk art tradition combining African and Indigenous spiritual iconography. Approximately 12 in. high, 4 in. wide, and 2 in. deep. Condition: Light wear, minor chipping to edges, and oxidation to metal plate consistent with age and exposure.
