Carved Yoruba Ibeji Figure, Nigeria, mid-20th century - Finely carved hardwood female “Ibeji” (twin figure) with distinctive high crested coiffure, almond-shaped eyes, and scarification marks to the cheeks and torso. The figure is adorned with traditional glass trade-bead necklaces in blue, green, and black, representing vitality and protection. Polished dark patina developed from ritual handling and palm oil application. Approximately 9 in. high, 3½ in. wide, 3 in. deep. Condition: Minor age cracks and surface wear; beadwork intact; fine patina from age and use.
