Moche-Style Portrait Stirrup Vessel, Peru, 20th century - Modeled terracotta portrait vessel in the form of a human head wearing a conical headdress, with finely incised linear detailing around the eyes, mouth, and base, and a rear handle connecting to a flaring stirrup spout. Based on the celebrated portrait ceramics of the Moche civilization (ca. 100–800 CE), known for their naturalistic renderings of individuals and ritual use in burial offerings. This later studio example faithfully reflects the ancient style and technique. Approximately 7 in. high, 4 in. wide, 6 in. deep. Condition: Minor abrasions and surface wear; small rim chips and scratches consistent with age; overall very good.
