Ashanti Akua’ba Fertility Figure, Ghana, Mid-20th Century - Carved wooden fertility figure of the classic Akua’ba form, characterized by its circular head, simplified facial features, and geometric incised motifs on the reverse. This version, executed in dark wood with fine linear engraving and a smooth aged patina, represents the regional style of the Ashanti people, where such figures were traditionally carried or displayed by women to promote fertility and protect unborn children.
