Abstract Seated Female Figure, West Africa, Mid-20th Century - Carved wooden seated figure in a highly stylized and geometric form, characterized by simplified facial planes, blocky limbs, and a broad halo-like coiffure. The figure holds a small infant in front, the entire composition reflecting fertility and maternal protection themes seen throughout African art, but with a distinct modern abstraction reminiscent of Baule or Lobi regional stylization.
