Chinese Carved Hardwood Figure of Budai with Children, Mid-20th Century - Finely carved hardwood figure of Budai, the Laughing Buddha, depicted seated with five joyous children climbing about him, one tugging at his robe, another perched on his shoulder, and others reaching for his prayer beads and cloth sack. The rich reddish-brown hardwood displays a lustrous hand-rubbed patina and well-modeled facial expression capturing warmth and humor. A traditional symbol of happiness, abundance, and family prosperity. Approx. 10¼ in. H, 9½ in. W, 6 in. D. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and light surface abrasions from age and handling.
