Southern Cherry Blanket Chest, mid-19th century - Attractive Southern cherry blanket chest with paneled front and sides, the lift-top lid opening to a clean interior for linens or storage. The case rests on turned legs with subtle ring turnings, and the front features a molded edge with original brass escutcheon. Constructed with pegged mortise-and-tenon joinery and exhibiting fine grain figure throughout, this chest reflects the straightforward craftsmanship and solid proportions typical of Tennessee or North Carolina cabinetmaking circa 1840–1860. Approximately 38 in. high, 46 in. wide, 21 in. deep. Condition: Excellent warm patina; minor surface wear consistent with age and use.
