Set of Eight Mahogany Chippendale Style Dining Chairs, 20th century - Elegant matched set of eight carved mahogany dining chairs in the Chippendale style, including two armchairs and six side chairs. Each features a pierced and interlaced splat beneath a molded crest rail carved with acanthus scrolls, over slip seats upholstered in fine yellow damask embroidered with floral and foliate motifs. The seats rest on cabriole legs ending in ball-and-claw feet, the armchairs with graceful scroll arms and curved supports. A classic and finely proportioned suite suitable for formal dining. Armchairs approximately 46 in. high, 26 in. wide; side chairs 44 in. high, 22 in. wide. Condition: Minor surface wear and light upholstery marks consistent with gentle use; all sturdy and well maintained.
