Classical Mahogany Marble-Top Pier Table, Likely New York, Circa 1835 - A handsome Classical period mahogany pier table with an ogee-shaped white marble top, supported on boldly scrolled ogee “S” brackets and resting on a robust plinth base with carved rosettes and a finely beaded lower edge. The frieze features an elegant carved anthemion and foliate spray, echoed by the carved lower apron. Rich ribbon-mahogany veneers display strong grain movement and a warm, well-preserved patina. 36½ in. H, 32 in. W, 16½ in. D (approx.). Condition: Marble top with scattered scratches and small stains; veneer with scattered age marks and minor losses; base with expected wear; structurally sound and visually impressive.
