English Carved Oak Coffer, Late 17th-Early 18th Century - Handsome English carved oak coffer, circa 1680–1700, featuring two molded panels to the front, each centered with a foliate quatrefoil motif framed within a lozenge border, beneath a band of arched lunettes with stylized leaf carving. The top with molded edges opens to reveal a clean interior; the hinges are 19th-century replacements set into the original mortises. Constructed with pegged mortise-and-tenon joinery and raised on stile legs integral to the end posts. The surface displays a deep, dry patina consistent with age and long use. Approximately 28 in. high, 39 in. wide, 18 in. deep.
