Pair of Monumental Bronze Classical Ewers with Serpent Handles and Putti, Late 19th Century - A dramatic pair of large, heavy bronze ewers richly cast in the late 19th century, decorated in the neoclassical style with deeply lobed rims, fluted necks, and ornate relief panels of foliage and fruiting vines. Each ewer features a sculptural wingless putto seated on the shoulder, supporting garland swags draped around the body. The sinuous handles take the form of stylized serpents with finely detailed heads and scaled bodies. The ewers rest on domed, gadrooned bases and retain traces of original gilt and polychrome throughout. Extremely heavy castings, likely produced in an Italian or French foundry around 1880–1900. Approximately 33 in. H, 13 in. W, 10 in. D. Condition: Wear, oxidation, and losses to polychrome; rims slightly irregular; very solid and impressive presentation.
